About
find·urdu explains English words in Urdu and Hindi, one entry at a time. Here's exactly what's live right now.
Every entry gives you the headword with its IPA pronunciation and part of speech, one or more senses — each with an Urdu meaning, a Hindi meaning, and an example sentence — and a short practice question at the bottom to check you've got it. Tap the pronunciation button to hear the word spoken aloud, straight from your browser.
The Idioms section covers common English expressions the same way — a plain-English meaning, Urdu and Hindi translations, an example sentence, and a practice question, with the literal word-for-word translation included whenever it's more interesting than the figurative meaning.
The search bar at the top of every page looks up words and idioms instantly as you type, right in your browser — no page reload required.
The Dictionary page lists every published word grouped alphabetically, so you can browse the whole site from one place.
The homepage surfaces the most recently published words and idioms and, when one of them has a matching video, features it too.
Some entries link out to a short explainer video on our YouTube channel, @findurdu.
This site is still being rebuilt. Slang and grammar sections, a video-by-playlist hub, a standalone pronunciation trainer, and a WhatsApp word-of-the-day service are all planned but not live yet — this page will be updated to match as they actually ship.
